  "We need backup!" You yelled at another male soldier. "The vampires' numbers are increasing every minute. Call for a backup team! Any squads that has done their mission in another place!

"Yes Mam!" The male soldier saluted and ran back to the main post to call the HQ for backup.

Your position in the Japanese Imperial Demon Army is a Lieutenant Colonel and one of the most elites in the elites. In this bloody fight, the elites were placed in the front lines. You were one of them, along with Sayuri, one of your closest friend in JIDA and of course, your handsome husband, Ichinose Guren.
You fought endlessly, leashing out all hatred upon every vampire you came into contact with by slashing or stabbing them with your weapon, a Cursed Gear.

"Hyaaah!" You yelled as you ran and clash with a vampire. Your weapon meets his.

"You have a sweet scent of blood, lady ..." The vampire said with a smirk showing a fang. "You shall become my livestock!"

"Hah, we'll see about that!" You scoffed.

You and the vampire slash weapons at one another. You were surprised at how strong this vampire was, even though he wasn't from the nobles. You almost stumbled but you managed to regain your balance fast. The vampire speed up towards you and point its sword at your neck, but you restrain yourself and defended by putting your weapon in front of it, then you swiftly get rid of it and aim for his neck. You slashed in blood gouge out from his throat.
In no time, the vampire quickly turned to dust.

"Shinoa!" You called her. Shinoa was also done killing another female vampire and immediately ran to you.

"Yes, Lieutenant (y/n)?" She asked. Her group was also included in the front lines because they're all a bunch of strong kids, almost everyone in her team possesses the Cursed Gear, and so far, they made a really valuable asset in the battles today.

You looked around, making sure her team is together and not separated from each other. Because that'll be troublesome and it'll double the danger. You saw Mitsuba and Yoichi, working together. Kimizuki, being the loner he is, he was facing two Horsemen of John by himself.
But, Yuichiro, he wasn't to be found.

"Where's Yu?" You asked Shinoa, with a worried expression.

"Yu?" Shinoa started to look around. It seems that herself didn't even know where Yuichiro is. Shinoa began to trail off, yelling Yu's name.

'They are not allowed to be separated in here...' You thought. 'The vampires here are tough and hard to defeat. If something happens to Yu, if he let's his guard down--'

Suddenly, you heard a male scream from behind. Somewhere near an abandoned book store, near an intersection. The person screamed out pain. He awed loudly, enough to be heard by your ears. Even Shinoa seems to hear it too and she knows who the voice belongs to.

"Yu-chan!" She yelled, with fright in her eyes.

It was a warning. There was a male vampire, standing up with a bloody red rapier in his right hand. He was smirking and looking down and the weak Yu, who's struggling to get up to fetch his sword which was thrown a few meters away from him. But the wound in his stomach was pretty bad, and again, there's this vampire who's raising his rapier with a killing intent dancing in his eyes.

'He's going to kil Yu!' You yelled in your thoughts.

"No! Yu!" You reached out your hand and ran towards him. The vampire raised his rapier and smiled violently at the prey that lie before him. But before he could stab Yuichiro's head, you jumped in front of him and protected Yu. The vampire was surprised at your sudden appearance. You glared at the vampire with your (e/c) orbs.

"Ohoo ..." He grinned, but then abruptly attack and almost stab your neck, again. But thank God, you were blessed with such good and quick reflexes and you immediately swung his sword away, and pay back him. You aimed at his vital part. The heart.

STAB.

You stabbed the vampire.
And the vampire stabbed you back, right at your heart.

'Shit!' You chided in your thoughts.

You both begin to cough up blood and backed away from each other. But the vampire wasn't be able to exist any longer, he immediately turn to ashes and rested on the ground, awaiting for the wind to blow it away.
You cover the wound on your upper chest as you fell to the ground on both knees. You coughed up more blood when you forcibly try to stop the intense bleeding, but you thought it's useless anyway.
Shinoa's group saw what happened and they all ran to your aid, shouting your name as they came over to you.

"Lieutenant Colonel (y/n)!" Shinoa shouted full of worry.

You were about to fall head flat on the ground, but Mitsuba caught you with her arms in time. She acted as your support as you lay on her small arms.

"Please ... Don't tell Guren about this ..." You croaked. "He'll be very mad ..."

"Oh, he'll be really mad alright." Shinoa sat to your right. "Someone please call the medical team! We need medical treatment right now!"

Kimizuki stood up. "I'll call the medical team Shinoa ..." Then he trailed off to the main post.

You gathered all your voice to speak, but it was hard with all the blood in your mouth. "Shinoa, we're too far from the main post ... I don't think --"

"No!" She shouted, holding your hand. "We'll make it! You'll make it ..." You could feel despair in her voice, as if she was really scared to lose you.

Then Mitsuba spoke. "Lieutenant, you will be fine ... You will be .. fine ..." She sobbed, forcibly holding back tears, also, there was a tremble in her voice, since you could feel it in her body too. She was shaking too much, not bearing to watch.

You smiled and croaked. "Mitsuba-chan ..." Then, you remembered that you forgot something. "Oh yeah ... Where is Yu--"

"LIEUTENANT COLONEL (y/n)!!" The haired black kid ran up to you, maybe forgetting that he's got a wound in his stomach before.

You grinned and giggled at his voice. "Seems he's doing okay ..." You gazed at Mitsuba and Shinoa.

Yuichiro sat beside Shinoa and he gripped your hand tightly. "Lieutenant! Please, don't die ..." He said. "You are not... dying on me ..." He reminded you. There was fright in his eyes, and you knew what made him worry. If Guren knew, your husband will blame your death on him, and you didn't want that.

"Lieutenant ..." He held back a sob. But you just smile at him.

"It's okay, Yu ..." You said and coughed. "Guren will not blame you ..."

You coughed again and more blood spilled from your mouth. The others were totally scared about you.

"Guys, she's loosing too much blood ..." Yoichi said, not bearing to watch. "Can't we ... can't we do something about it?!"

You raised a hand and say. "I'm fine kids, I'm fine--"

"NO LIEUTENANT YOU ARE NOT FINE!" The four of them yelled at unison and you were surprised when they did it.

"What the hell children ..."

Shinoa began to cry and rested her head on your lower chest. Mitsuba was starting to feel the same as Shinoa and the boys looked down, trying their very damn best not to shed a tear.
They all loved you, since you were the kindest, smartest and bravest superior in the JIDA. You have always supported them and sometimes spend your spare time practicing with them, that's why they have become the way they are now.

Just then, a troop appeared in the corner right from where you are. The troop still have a lot of men. You couldn't clearly see who lead them but when Shinoa's eyes got wide. You immediately knew who it is.

'Oh great. I'm in trouble ...' You spoke in your thoughts.

"Oh no ..." She said, her body got weaker, as she saw another male lieutenant colonel.

At first, Guren didn't exactly know what happened but when he saw you in Mitsuba's arm, your JIDA uniform covered in dried blood, he was ultimately shocked.

Suddenly his body grew weaker as he said, "No ... (y/n) ..."

He ran at top speed towards you and the others with the troops following behind him.

"Oh my fucking God ..." Guren mumbled under his breath when he saw you, his eyes wide with all the shock as he knelt, replacing Mitsuba. Now he was holding you in his arms.

"Hey Guren ..." You managed a weak smile at your husband.

He gazed at your (e/c) orbs, with his dark-purplish ones. "You bitch ... Don't give me that face ..." His voice was different. It was full of sadness, his body trembling since you can feel it in his hand that's cupping your right cheek. "I told you before not to join--"

"But it's my job to protect people. I just can't ignore that ..." You said.

Guren's feeling was beginning to unstable, he was sad, but also angry. He looked at his men and yelled. "Why are you guys just standing?! Call the medical--!"

Shinoa interrupted. "We have, Lieutenant. They'll be here any minute ..."

He tch-ed. "And the main post is too far from here ..." He said as he rested his forehead on yours. "(y/n) ... Please don't leave us ..." He gave his saddest gaze. "I can't go back home like this ... What will I tell our child?"

You cupped his cheek. "Tell him ... that .. I love him so much. Tell him that I was very happy to be his mother."

"You could have just ... stay--" Before he could finish his sentence, you shushed him by placing a finger on his lips.

"I love you, okay?" You said, it was very hard to speak for you right now and you could feel your heart beat getting slower. "I love .. you guys ... you two are the .. best thing .. I've ever had ..." You also didn't forget Shinoa's group. "I also love you guys ..." You said, gazing at Shinoa. "Practice every day for me okay?" You said, managing a weak smile.

"Hai. Lieutenant ..." Everyone said.

Your vision starts to blur, the pain in your chest has stopped, but your heart beat was getting slower every second and you could barely hear. All you could feel was Guren's hand on your right cheek and and his tight grip on your arm.

"No, (y/n)! Please! Don't, don't!" Guren yelled, shaking you. "DON'T DO THIS TO ME! PLEASE! I love you too..."

And your last words that managed to come out as a whisper was. "I'm very sorry ... my beloved husband and son ...". Then, everything went black in your sight.

He embraced your cheek as his tears flood down his eyes, crying his eyes and lungs out as he hold you closer, hugging your lifeless body. He was crying the loudest than everyone else. Shinoa and her friends we're crying too, Mitsuba was hugging her as she cried. Yu and Yoichi looked away, even though tears were flowing down their eyes. Kimizuki arrived with the medical team, but they were already too late. All they could do was to bring back your body to the JIDA.

Three days after the fight, the Japanese Imperial Demon Army held a funeral ceremony for the soldiers that have fallen on the day of the battle. There were so many lives lost, young adults, men and women, even some of the elites.

At the funeral ceremony, everyone was present. Shinoa and her friends, and the family you left behind. The funeral was accompanied with the sound of several gunfire being released into the sky.

When the funeral ended, all the people had left, except Guren and his young son. They were both standing in front of your grave.

"Mama ..." Your son said, already covered in tears, wiping his face several times so he wouldn't dirty his suit . He stood next to his father, who held him tightly by the hand, his face showing no emotion and he looked up to his dad, asking a question out of his pure curiosity.

"Why are you not sad, dad?" He asked.

His father only gazed down at his son but didn't answer his question. It was too much of a pain to answer.

"Dad, do you ... love mom?" He asked again.

It was the only question that could bring even a strong and brave man like him to fall on his knees. He began to sob, but his son hugged his dad fragile figure.

"I love mom so much, dad ..." His son starts joining too.

Finally, Guren replied to his son. "I also loved her too, son. She said to me that we're both the best thing in her life. She told me that she loved you too and she was happy to be your mother."

'(y/n), I didn't want to lose you in this stupid, messed up world, because you were the first woman who cared and loved me. I was a very proud husband, and yet, I wasn't there to protect you that day. But you left me with something much greater, and this time, I swear I will protect our very dearest treasure, our son.' He thought as he took one last glance at your grave.

Once he arrived home and had checked up on his son to sleep, he went to his bedroom and began to undress his suit. He was beginning to untie his tie until he noticed a piece of paper on a table that used to be your dressing table. The paper was folded neatly into half. He frowned at it, remembering that it wasn't there the days before. Or was it? He tried to remember, but couldn't. So he picked it up and unfold it.

It was a letter with your handwriting on it, also a photo.

Dear my handsome, sarcastic but my one and only husband,

In this dark world, with madness and wars everywhere, I never knew that I will meet you in my life. Ichinose Guren, who in the end, become my very dearest and beloved husband, you are the very reason why I keep living in this world, you are the reason why I fight, and the people around me became my inspiration to do my job very well. Bearing a child with you - a very cute, sweet son, that was one of the best things in my life. I love you both so much and you two will always be my sunshine, no matter where I am.

He stare at the photo. In it was him holding his son for the first time, and you took the photo. He legs became weak and decided to sat on a bed. Tears wet the letter when he reads it, and a few minutes later, he slept, with the letter and photo on his chest.

And you were right beside him, wishing you could embrace his cheeks again, but this time, you could only watch and cry as you whisper 'I love you, my sunshine'.
